In the year following my grandfathers death I waited in my Gold Canyon backyard before dawn for a sunrise photo in honor of him. I was unaware that a military test facility, east of AZ in White Sands New Mexico was conducting missile testing in the dawn hours. Seeing the contrails of the missile vapors in the eastern sky as the sun began to rise I was convinced it was a message from my grandfather. He was a military man and if he wanted to send me a message what clearer way ? For years this photo which was made on 35mm slide film and printed without photoshop was my best-selling photograph. The colors you see are as real as his love for me.
